For preschoolers
Our programmes for preschoolers introduce the magic of opera and ballet through performances and workshops. On this page, you will also find application instructions for daycare groups.
opera & ballet in action
In Opera & Ballet in Action workshops, 3 to 6 years olds can experience the fascinating world of opera and ballet. Participants learn about a selected Main Stage production through hands-on activities, such as dancing, and crafting. The workshops last approximately 1 hour and are held in Finnish. The theme of the workshops in the 2025–2026 season is the Cinderella ballet.
Application period for daycare groups in Opera & Ballet In Action workshops in spring 2026 has ended.
As part of our co-operation with the municipalities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, we offer local daycare groups the chance to participate in the Opera & Ballet In Action workshops free of charge. For daycare groups from outside the area there are some free places too. Please apply for the performances in advance. Participants for the audience are selected taking into account first-time participants and municipal co-operation.

magic moment
Magic Moment is an interactive performance based on the familiar story of Cinderella. In the 30-minute performance, toddlers and preschoolers are gently introduced to the world of ballet through exploration and imaginative play.
Application period for Magic Moment in autumn 2026 will begin on Monday 4 May at 9 a.m. The application period will end on Friday 8 May at 11.59 p.m.
mini opera
Mini Operas are lively 30-minute versions of well-known operas bursting with energy and excitement. Two brilliant singers bring to life a wealth of characters, while two musicians create a colourful orchestral sound. The performance is suitable for audiences of all ages, starting from preschoolers. Our current repertoire features a Mini Opera adaptation of The Barber of Seville. In the 2026–2027 season, our programme for preschoolers includes the mini opera Das Rheingold.
We will announce on this page when the application period for Mini Opera performances in autumn 2026 begins.
