The Stravinsky evening: Sacre
Igor Stravinsky shook the ballet world in the 1910s with his groundbreaking ballet music, which cemented his position as one of the most highly esteemed composers of the 20th century. The Stravinsky evening at the Finnish National Ballet offers a fresh take on his original works, combining his music with innovative choreography and stunning visuals.
In Goyo Montero’s interpretation, the story of The Rite of Spring is set in a post-apocalyptic world where only the strongest have survived. The sacrifice is not intended to please the gods, but rather to ensure survival through collaboration and empathy. Sacre premiered at Nurenberg Ballet, where Montero serves as director, in 2019.
